Recipe: Whole Baked Pumpkin with Garlic


  • Whole pumpkin
  • garlic
  • salt and pepper.


  1. Use a medium buttercup pumpkin or any round green type.
  2. Cut a slice off the top of the pumpkin.
  3. Remove the seeds and soft pulp.
  4. Put a little olive oil into the pumpkin, pepper and salt and three cloves of sliced garlic.
  5. Replace the top and put the pumpkin into a shallow ovenproof dish.
  6. Bake in a moderate oven for about one hour or until tender.
  7. Present the pumpkin whole at the table and serve it sliced like a cake.
  8. Good with any meat.
